My heritage is largely German-American going back to the Hockenberrys who settled in Pennsylvania in the early 1700s. I’ve always been interested in the German-American experience, which was particularly hard during WWI. My maternal German-American grandfather was a successful businessman during WWI. He built the house in the NYC suburb of Bronxville that I grew up in. It is featured in my 1st book. With that, I had the start for Over Here.
